About Kara

Kara Hagen joined the PCDH19 Alliance in 2022 as Executive Director. Her daughter, Rebecca, is living with PCDH19 Epilepsy.

​

Kara comes to the Alliance with a professional background in nonprofit fundraising for fine arts organizations. She also has extensive experience in leading parent-teacher organizations. Kara is dedicated to helping the PCDH19 Alliance fund research that will improve the lives of patients and caregivers.

Originally from Bridge City, Texas, Kara graduated from the University of Houston, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in History. She enjoys spending time with her extended family and going to the theater. She lives in Houston with her husband, Matt; daughter Rebecca; and son Emmet.

The PCDH19 Alliance is a registered non-profit by the Internal Revenue Service under Section 501 (c)(3). All the funds we raise go directly to funding research, supporting families, raising awareness, and finding a cure.
